On finding myself...Had a crazy dream a couple of nights ago that won't let go. I'm realizing that my entire life seems about trying to define me...to me I guess. The journey began early, and always involved moving away from where I started. I spent so many years wanting something more...more knowledge, more sophistication, more adventure, more beauty, more money, more friends, more acceptance. Being myself wasn't ever enough. I think the journey is taking me back to where I started. I don't need so much more, anymore. I feel OK with the me that my parents created and nurtured. Pretty simple, not very exciting, but it feels like enough.

Just a sidenote to my daughter's introduction...I decidedly do NOT like snowflakes on eyelashes...especially when they are blown back into my face as I shovel the pretty white stuff for the umpteenth time this winter. Seriously have 10 foot snowdrifts on the sides of my driveway. It's not easy hoisting the snow over my shoulder at that height. I am NOT a young woman anymore...not OLD either, but I haven't enjoyed creating snow angels in decades. But on the positive side, I am happy that I can still do this for myself, and it's good exercise.
Here Goes
So, I honestly feel as dumb as a post, but I'll try to say SOMETHING just to see if this works. I'm a slow learner...but learn I shall! I've got nothing for you today, other than to see how it all goes down in the world of bloggers. Sort of like the Twitter account I set up, and have never re-visited. If I enjoy this sort of thing, you're all going to be very happy that I still have a job, or I'd probably be writing to you all day long :) Maybe someday I'll even figure out how to get the photos off my camera and then actually FIND them again on my computer. Then I could share pictures of the beautiful foods I create also :)

The beginning...
Welcome everyone! I should tell you now, I am not Gretchen. This is her daughter, Siri, and I created this blog for Gretchen, my mother. Why? For a few reasons...
1. She is an excellent writer.
2. She uses these excellent writing techniques to email her kids, multiple times a day. We LOVE these emails, of course, but I think she wastes her talents on us, don't you? Her thoughts need to be OUT THERE, in World Wide Web land.
3. She has many Favorite Things, like bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. But maybe not snowflakes that stay on her nose and eyelashes? Pretty sure she hates those with a passion.
Anyway, I'm hoping she shares all of her Favorite Things here, on her shiny new blog. And I hope you all enjoy!
Your turn mom...
